My Favorite Medals

After reading Marlene's post, "I'll show you mine if you show me yours," I decided to join in on the fun. I LOVE medals! As tacky, cheesy and clunky as they may be, I never get tired of getting them. I have really enjoyed seeing everyone's medals, so thanks to all who have shared.
I keep all my medals in my bedroom at my parent's house, I don't sleep there often, but when i do, i love walking in and seeing all my bling.

I have wood paneling all the way around my room so I hang them on push pins.

When we get thunderstorms they rattle against the wall and wake me up, lol.

If I took them all down, I would be able to put them all back in the exact same spot.

These are my favorite medals. 3 medals x 5 years = still want more :-)

It's fun to see how a medal improves over the years. The 2005 medal was small and no color, the 2010 medal is much fancier!

This is my least favorite. I have very tiny hands (my engagement ring is 3.25) so this medal may look normal-sized in my hand, but I assure you, it's the size of a QUARTER!!!  It's sooooo tiny. Not to be picky here, but I don't like the red, white and blue ribbon on medals. :-P

It's nice to get different things sometimes too. Here is my cowbell from my 50k and my sash from Disney.

I don't pick a race based on the medal, but it is definitely a nice perk. Whenever people ask me if I collect anything, I never know what to say. I want to say I collect running medals, but not sure if that makes sense. Ryan and I always take a smoochy picture with our medals after a race. :-)

What is YOUR favorite medal? Thanks, Marlene, good idea.

A great display you have going! I wish I had done something like that instead of throwing mine in a box!

What an awesome collection. I think the cowbell is the coolest thing ever.

And really a 3.5? Those are some tiny hands. I thought my 5.5 was small.

I love all your Disney medals, how fun! And I noticed just my 2 Boston medals improving each year...wow, those in 05 were sad! Ha.

Honestly, I prefer to get stuff rather than medals. We got shirts at the Derry 16 miler this year, and I'll get caps and other goodies at my tri in August. I love your medal display, but for me, well, I have them in a box somewhere...
And yay, I am doing Baystate, too. Are we going to finish a few seconds apart again:)?

WOW! That's a lot of bling. Super fun to see them and I like the commentary about which ones you like and don't like. Fun!

PS: Thanks for your compliment today. :)

I really like the way you hung up the medals with your race numbers, that is very cool! The Mickey medals seem to be your favorites, too cute! What does Ryan do with his medals?

Nice! I display mine all over the house. I only display medals for the current year. At the end of the year I pack them all away with the medals from previous years and start “decorating” again in the new year. After 29 years of running I have so many I can’t display all.

Nice medals, but what I can't stop thinking about is your tiny ring size. My rings are a size 8!! I always knew I had sausage fingers :)

YAY for small hands. I wear a size 4 :) It still gets a bit loose but I don't mind.

Wow - I have a long way to go to catch up with you :)!

My favorite medal to date is my Disneyland Half Marathon...It was my first half marathon and I suffered a lot during the race and that made it even more special.

I'm sure that will change after the Goofy in January (or at least I hope it will).

I think you can totally say you collect running medals - if you preface that by saying you earn them all :)!
