7 Things About Me(Bethany)

Hi everyone, I got tagged by Tall Mom for the Versatile Blogger award so now I have to write 7 things about myself...here it goes...

1. I am bilingual. I am an American Sign Language Interpreter so my second language is ASL.

2. I can lick my elbow, even though it is supposedly impossible to do.

3. I was in the same preschool class as Ryan. Never saw each other again until high school.   He was super shy and super smart (class valedictorian) we never really talked. I was a bit wild and hung out with the "cool" girls. We were TOTAL opposites and no one would have ever believed we'd get married someday!! I did have a little crush on Ryan tho, I thought his shyness was cute.

4. Even though Ryan and and I were such an unlikely couple/match, all throughout high school my mother would say, "You're going to marry Ryan Couto someday." my response, "Mom! I don't even talk to Ryan Couto!"  Hmm, how did she know???

5. I have been running for 13 years and have never had a running injury. Nope, not afraid to jinx to myself because it's not luck, for me it's careful planning and A LOT of work! Injury prevention is my 4th job, it's A LOT of work but really has paid off well for me. And being so laid back helps a lot to. I am very blessed that my body loves running as much as the rest of me does!

6. I wake up EARLY e.v.e.r.y. S.I.N.G.L.E day of my life (sigh). Now with the sun I'm waking up between 5-5:30am daily.I'm able to get a lot done and I'm very productive in the morning so I don't mind 85% of the time. Sleepovers always sucked as a kid though.

7. I am running my first ultra marathon 1 week from today (Ryan too!! Can't wait!)

Let me guess, you want a picture of #2? LOL

Please share your planning and work secrets for fact number 5. Until last year I was in the same boat, but I've had a bad string of injuries and can't seem to break the cycle. I'm open to any techniques that might get me back to smooth running.

Best of luck to you and Ryan in your ultra!

Hi, I got to your blog by way of Tall Mom and the Versatile Blogger award. Congrats! I, like Evolving Through Running, want to know what you do to stay injury free and, yes, a pic of #2 is now required. :)
Good luck to you and Ryan on the ultra!!

Good luck on the ultra!!!

My husband gets up at 5 am every morning. People like you guys are annoying. ;o) Just kidding - he thinks I'm weird because I can't wind down until after 10, usually even later.

Ahaha, we defintiely need a pic (or video) of #2. Too funny!

Great list. I love that you and Ryan were so different and have known each other for so long. Crazy how Mom always knew!

Hello Bethany - Great list. As I was reading #2, I was giving it a try - nope I can't do it. Yeah, we need a pic for sure.

I was injury free too, until last Nov. I think mine was from a fall that I took, not from running, but when I raced a PR half marathon, soon after the fall, I think that did it. Now I'm nervous.

So loved the history about you and Ryan. very neat! Those brains paid off - structural engineer - not too bad.

Of course we need a picture of #2!!! Loved reading more about you.

Great list! Best of luck on the ultra mary! Haven't done one in since 1999. Lot's of fun though since you don't usually have a clock every mile to stress you out...assuming it's a trail ultra.

Good luck on the ultra!!!! So fun to read about you! I wish I knew sign language :)

I took sign language in college and always regretted that I never continued with it.
Best of luck with the ultra. That is quite an undertaking.

Very nice list! Mmm...moms are always right! The only reason I don't get injuries is because I run so slow.

Good luck with the ultra!

Very cool about your mom knowing this about you guys! And wow--13 yrs. with no injury? That's amazing/impressive. Keep up whatever you are doing right!

Yup, I want a picture!!

When I was a junior in high school, my mom told me I was going to meet my hubby in Austria (where my college studied abroad). I was dating someone else when I went to Austria, but I dumped him for Phil, and moms know best, I guess :)

Licking your eyebrow - I think think that beats being able to tie a cherry stem in a knot with your tounge :)
Congrats on 1 year!!!
I'm an earlier riser too, but not an earlier runner - more like mid-morning or early afternoon :)
Can't wait for the report on your ultra!!
