Wow, it's been a busy week. Feels like we haven't updated in a looong time!
Well, we ran the Martha's Vineyard 20 Miler on Saturday, and it was quite an experience. It was definitely an all-day affair, but it ended up alright. We had fun, and it's always a good day when we can spend a whole day together! We had to get up real early, drive about an hour to where the ferry leaves, take about a 45 min ferry ride, and then wait about 2 hours for the 11am race to start.
Here we are waiting at the Vineyard Playhouse, chilling pre-race.
Unfortunately we ran separately, Miss Bethany wanted to test out her wheels, and it was good to get a first solo 20-miler in before Boston.
Chilling in the school gymnasium post-race, feeling good. Ryan did 2:56:50 (8:50 pace), and Miss Bethany did a sweet 2:39:53 (7:58 pace), even though she said she was feeling really sluggish and kept thinking Ryan was going to catch up :-p
Ryan's time was good enough for 3rd place in the 20-24 age group (not a deep group haha), while Miss Bethany took home 2nd place in the 20-24 group. Ryan also placed 11th out of 37 Clydesdales. Not the Top 10 finish he was hoping for, but still felt good about it.
The boat ride home from the Vineyard. A good day.
We also had a nice little Valentine's Day, nothing too exciting. Just a nice day spent together. :-)

I love your sincere feelings about spending time with Ryan, you always make me smile :) !
Ha, ha!! I thought it sounded funny when you called yourself "Miss Bethany" but for some reason...I always thought...I guess I'm just slow:) ! Nice job, R!
Way to go! Great job on the awards! I've never ridden on a ferry, so that looks like fun!
I love how you refer to yourself in the third person...funny! We made a trip to Boston and Martha's Vineyard last summer, that would be a totally fun place to run.
What a great day! Both of you did fantastic! Love the recap and the pictures. :)
Sounds like a blast! Stellar runs, both of you!
I ran the Hyannis Marathon last year and although it was cold it was still awesome to be on the coast. I imagine running on MV must have been pretty amazing too.
Sounds like a great wa to spend V-day. Congrats to you both on great races & AG placements!
Sounds like a fun race! I've never been to Martha's Vineyard in the winter, I bet it's so different!
lots of great feedback about your post! not sure how you want to handle answering some of the questions
I read one of your comments on a blog about how much you love to run and I thought...I am going to follow that blog...I love running!
Great job!!
As for your comments about my timing issue...garmin said 5.02 miles, so not too off at all. Chip was in my bib. I ran the tangents and there really aren't many b/c the race in on straight streets. it's just the usual timing crap you get with any race. i heard others are off, too. so i'm wondering if the official time was the kid who wanded my bib after i crossed the finish line.
great job!
congratulations!
